Book Review Guidelines

We ask for a two month turn-around time from the day you receive the book. If you have a problem with this time frame, please contact the book review Editor to discuss an extension.

Review Content

The objective of the book review section of the Journal of Latin American Geography is to keep the readers well-informed of contemporary publications. To develop a critical assessment of the work, your commentary should include the fundamentals of review (description, analysis, and appraisal), and should also locate it within the current literature. Please avoid dealing with the book on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Identify the main themes and critically examine the way the author has dealt with them in relation to the relevant theoretical and/or empirical contexts. Do not use citations to other relevant works with bibliographical items at the end of the review. Only cite page numbers of critically quoted passages.
