Volunteers

To begin your search for an organization, you should start with one of the following sites:

You should treat your search for a volunteer position as you would a job search. When deciding on accepting a job offer, you ask yourself: "Do I support the mission of the company? Do I like and am I good at the tasks I will be performing? Is it a good company to work for?" For more, see Chapter 4 of How You Can Help.

Avoiding Volunteer Abuse

Volunteering can be fulfilling for you and critical to those who are served, but not always. Chapter 4 suggests how to spot potential problems, including a lack of commitment on your part, and what to do about them.
